Biplab Sangha started the match well taking the lead inside the first couple of minutes as Niratyay pushed the ball past the goal keeper from close range. Swapan was the provider. The club went on to increase the lead just after that as Swapan's shot was saved by the keeper only for Sounak to push it into an empty net. Unfortunately the lead could not be sustained as the midfield of the cricketers team started to take control. They organized themselves and started using the width of the pitch. Soon it was 2-2. After the interval the cricketers team added 2 more goals making it nearly impossible for a comeback. Biplab Sangha created some chances during this time and Sounak pulled one back for the club, again from Swapan's pass. Swapan was involved in all the three goals. Also a number of easy chances were missed during this time. Just when, a comeback was becoming a possibility, the cricketers' team managed a penalty during the final minutes and it was 5-3 for them.
Even though the scoreline and overall performance of the team was disappointing, there were a lot of positives too. Given the fact that this team is playing full bar matches after a long time, the score line is quite justified. Also the opponents were all professional cricket players so they were miles ahead in fitness. The shape and fitness of the team for full bar matches has to improve a lot. More full bar matches will definitely help that cause.
